We’re delighted to share our home with you – a place designed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Alongside contemporary design, you’ll find antique furniture, industrial objects, books, photographs and items collected over the years: some once belonged to our family, whilst others have found their way to Tegna from distant times and places. The furnishings thus tell the story of one of BDL’s central themes: migration. The name BDL (Benefattori di Livorno) commemorates the inhabitants of Tegna who, from the nineteenth century onwards, left the village in search of a future elsewhere, including in Livorno. Some returned, bringing with them not only objects, but also customs, images, tastes and new ways of looking at the world. Many of the items that now fill the house seem to have followed the same path: originating in other places and sometimes intended for other uses, they have arrived here to find a new home. BDL thus becomes a small domestic geography: a Ticino house built of local stone, inhabited by different eras, cultures and stories. Here, the objects are not simply on display. They have arrived.
